id like to see the gods not be tied to specific domains. if the domain can somehow be attributed to the deity's portfolio their clerics should be able to pick it. for example if you are a cleric of the nature god you could pick, say, plant and animal or water and weather, but not artifice because thats more of a technology based domain and doesnt really fit the nature theme.

Perhaps each god should have several aspects? And each aspect as its own weapon/domain choices etc.


A goddess of Birth and Death would have completely separate domains for those two aspects for example.

It would make the gods a lot more complicated though.

ok how about this there are 12 Greater Gods, these are the 12 that created the world. they would have generalized concepts, like the sea, earth, sky or nature.

then the next batch of gods the Lesser Gods came along. whether they are the offspring of the Greater Gods, ascended mortals, or from something else they are full powered gods. they each have a more focused area of influence. example the gods of sea and nature had a child, this new god has dominion over the weather.

on second thought i think the terms Elder Gods and Younger Gods would fit better. Greater and Lesser imply a power difference when there isnt really much difference.
