Illious is a city centered in the vast bronze deserts of Iliam, named so because of the sands darker copper colouring.
Illious is ruled by a senate built out of the cities innumerable trading masters that fluctuate and change like the shifting sands as they gain and loss power, becoming rich and penniless and living and dead, leaving Illious in constant political upheaval between factions that melt away just as fast as they are formed.
The Senate is comprised of 60 merchants who advise 13 Merchant Lords who in turn advise the Merchant Queen.
Illious was founded by the Demigod general Illoilo who after returning from battle, maimed after attacking his own troops in a fit of rage was unrecognised by his wife. Afraid she would leave him he took his armies bronze equipment and tore them into sand and littered Iliam with it, building Illious in the center in the only Oasis he had not dried up. Trapping his wife in the city he had created for her. The Royal Family is descended from Illoilo and his wife.
The population changes drastically over the seasons but Lizardmen are always a common sight as they are most adept to the desert, finding work under the Merchants as thugs, hitmen and caravan guards and too a lesser extent household guards.
